On Monday, May 13, 2024, officials from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) visited the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of Nigeria to explore opportunities for collaboration aimed at enhancing sustainable practices in Nigerian corporate organizations.
Dr. Olowo, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of FRC, welcomed the NiMet team, highlighting the potential for alignment between NiMet and FRC in fulfilling their core mandates, particularly in sustainability reporting, climate risks, and opportunities. He stressed FRC’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices in Nigerian organizations.
Professor Charles Anosike, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, emphasized the critical role of climate reports in sustainable practices, and stated, “Climate change is fast becoming a priority for financial regulators. The work we do at NiMet through our weather and climate reports are the foundation for sustainable practices. This partnership will enable NiMet and FRC to jointly develop capacity”.
