The Executive Secretary/CEO, Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Dr. Rabiu Olowo on Friday, May 3, 2024, inaugurated the Nigerian Actuarial Development Programme (NADP) Workgroup to foster growth, innovation, and excellence within the field of actuarial practice in Nigeria.
Speaking during the inauguration of the NADP Work Group, Dr. Olowo emphasized the crucial role of actuaries in shaping the nation’s financial landscape. He stated that “the establishment of this workgroup underscores our unwavering commitment to nurturing local talent, driving innovation, and propelling the profession of actuarial science forward in Nigeria. By uniting experts and stakeholders, we aim to cultivate a dynamic ecosystem that encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.”
He added that “our vision for the Nigerian Actuarial Development Programme Workgroup is resolute: to cultivate a pipeline of skilled professionals who will fuel sustainable growth, advocate for financial inclusion, and mitigate risks within our economy. Through targeted training, mentorship, and capacity-building initiatives, we aspire to empower individuals to excel in this dynamic field and contribute meaningfully to our nation’s developmental agenda.”
Dr Olowo charged each member to approach this task with dedication, innovation, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence, adding that “Nigeria looks to us with hope and expectation, understanding that failure is not an option. The stakes are high, and the challenges are formidable, but with our collective effort and unwavering determination, success is inevitable.”
The NADP Workgroup is led by Dr. Rabiu Olowo as Chairman and Mr. Rotimi Okpaise as Coordinator and includes distinguished professionals from various organizations and institutions. Representatives are drawn from the Nigerian Actuarial Society, NAICOM, Universities, Renowned auditing firms, Regulatory agencies, and Industry associations.
