The presentation of the Draft Exposure Document (Zero Draft) of the Nigeria Public Sector Governance Code (NPSGC) took place in Abuja on January 3, 2024.
Barr. Danladi I. Kifasi, FCA, mni, Chairman of the Technical Working Group (TWG), handed over the document to the ES/CEO of FRC, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, marking a crucial step towards promoting credible reporting, accountability, and all-round good governance in Nigeria’s public sector.
The TWG, comprising experienced public sector officers and corporate governance experts, worked diligently to produce this framework, aiming to restore our nation’s integrity and institutionalize good governance practices in public institutions.
The NPSGC emphasizes ethical and effective leadership, ethical culture, good performance, effective control, and legitimacy.
The TWG expressed gratitude to the ES/CEO of the FRC, Dr. Rabiu Olowo and management for their guidance and support throughout the process, as well as to all individuals and organizations involved in drafting the Code. Their remarkable contributions and collaboration made the production of the Draft Exposure Document possible.
In response, the ES/CEO conveyed appreciation to the TWG, the Council, the Honorable Minister of Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for their outstanding efforts and selfless service.
Highlighting the significance of the Code, he expressed the President’s commitment to its unveiling and requested continued support during the exposure and stakeholder engagement phase.
